A cautionary notice was issued to fishermen by the IMD on Friday against venturing into the Kerala-Karnataka-Lakshadweep coasts for fishing. There are chances of bad weather and strong winds of 40-45 kmph along the coasts. In some cases, this may go up to 55 kmph.
The IMD also warns against hazards like landslides, mudslides, floods, etc due to the excessive rains and strong winds that the state has been witnessing for the past few days.
According to IMD, the monsoon trough is south of its normal position. The off-shore trough lies from the south of the Gujarat coast to the north of Kerala coast. Two cyclonic circulations can be seen over Jharkhand and in the northeast Arabian Sea near the Gujarat coast, respectively.
As a result, Kerala is expected to get more rain across the state in the next 24 hours. Some parts of the state will also receive heavy and extremely heavy rainfall. Following this, the intensity of rainfall will likely reduce, IMD noted.
