Thiruvananthapuram: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Saturday issued a rainfall forecast bulletin for Kerala. According to that, rains or thundershowers are most likely to occur at most places in Kerala on December 9 and at many places on December 10 and 11. Similarly, rains or thundershowers are most likely to occur in one or two places from December 13 to 15.
“A cyclonic circulation lies over Southeast Arabian Sea & adjoining Maldives area and extends up to 5.8 km above mean sea level. Under its influence a Low-Pressure Area is likely to form over the same region during next 24 hours,” IMD release said.
IMD has also issued orange and yellow alerts for some districts. They are:
- December 9: Kozhikode and Wayanad on orange alert (heavy to very heavy rainfall); Pathanamthitta, Ernakulam, Idukki, Palakkad, Malappuram and Kannur on yellow alert (heavy rainfall)
- December 10: Pathanamthitta and Ernakulam on yellow alert (heavy rainfall)
