Kannur: The new train service between Shoranur and Kannur has been extended for another three months to reduce the rush in trains. According to the order issued by railways, the train service will be in force till October 31. As per the new order, a new stop has been added to the service at Payyoli. 

Initially announced to run from July 2 to 31, the Shoranur-Kannur train (06031) will now operate until October 30, while the Kannur-Shoranur train (06032) will continue till October 31. The operational days remain unchanged. As per the schedule, the service to Kannur will run on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, while the service to Shoranur will be on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.

Meanwhile, the demand regarding the extension of service to six days a week and extending to Kasaragod have not been considered. MPs Rajmohan Unnithan and Dr. V. Sivadasan had written to Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav regarding this matter.
