Kochi: The Kerala high court sought an explanation from the authorities for not taking any action against MLA PV Anvar even after he violated Land Reforms Act. The court also asked the government to give an explanation within one week and to serve a notice to PV Anvar.

According to the affidavit filed during previous assembly election, PV Anvar and family owns about 207 acres of land. Malappuram native KV Shaji, who does not own any land, approached the land board pointing out this.

As the complaint was found to be genuine, Taluk Land Board authorities and Revenue Departments were directed to take action against Anvar for violating the Land Reforms Act. Though an order was issued in 2017 in this regard, no further action was taken.

Later, Shaji approached the high court pointing out that the government is helping Anvar due to his influence as MLA. The high court sought explanation from the government while considering this petition.

The high court directed the authorities including Land Board secretary and district collector to explain why the order was not implemented even after three years. The government also was asked to explain why they failed to take further action. A detailed hearing will be held next month.
