Kochi: The Kannur Zonal Taluk Land Board chairman has filed an unconditional apology to the Kerala High Court for not completing the verification process in the case against PV Anvar MLA and family for possession of land beyond the permissible limit. Considering the Board’s request for more time, the court has allowed three more months to complete the process.

In 2022, the high court directed the Land Board to look into a complaint filed against P V Anvar and his family for possession of ‘excess’ land in violation of the Land Reforms Act. The court had directed the Board to finish the proceedings within six months. However, even after one year, the board did not take any action in this regard. As a result, the complainant filed a contempt of court petition at the HC. The new development comes in response to this.

In his apology letter to the court, the Land Board Chairman stated that the delay was not intentional. He cited that the verification was prolonged because of a delay in due procedures. Land Board also requested an additional time of three months for finishing the process. The court approved the request after verifying the documents submitted by the Chairman.
