Kannur: Akash Thillankeri's recent comments alleging CPM had exploited people like him to commit crimes have raised suspicions over the party's link in the Shuhaib murder case.
CP Muhammed, Shuhaib's father, demanded a CBI investigation to find those involved in the murder.
Youth Congress Mattannur Block Secretary SP Shuhaib was killed by a gang on the night of February 12 at Edayannur. Following the incident, Akash Thillankeri and Rijin Raj, accused in the case, were dismissed by CPM from the party.
However, Thillankeri on Wednesday posted a series of comments on CPM leaders' social media posts, alleging several party members have directed the killing of Shuhaib. Shuhaib's father also claimed there was a conspiracy behind his son's murder.
"The role played by then CPM district secretary P Jayarajan should be investigated. I am not paying huge fees for advocates to fight the case in Supreme Court for Akash Thillankeri," CP Muhammed said.
Meanwhile, DCC president Adv Martin George alleged that CPM leadership took the decision to murder Shuhaib.
