Kannur: In the past five years, police haven't registered any case having serious charges enough to evoke KAAPA (Kerala Anti-social Activities Prevention Act) against my son, claims Raveendran, the father of Shuhaib murder case accused Akash Thillankeri. He alleged that some people have been trying to trap Akash by registering a case against him.
"The party has no connection to his arrest. Police took Akash from home after claiming it was only to sign some papers. Only later did we learn that police imposed KAAPA against him," Raveendran added.
Raveendran claimed that controversial comments that led to his arrest were posted on a fake account.
"He was born into a party family. Therefore, he had a close connection with the party since childhood. I don't believe he would act out against the party until his death. However, Akash is accused whenever a Congressman dies. I don't believe he is involved in the Shuhaib murder case," he said.
Raveendran also dismissed claims that Akash has a connection with gold smuggling gangs. He demanded those who pointed a finger at his son produce shreds of evidence to verify their claim. It is true that customs officials once visited our house. However, they didn't find any evidence to penalise him, he added.
