Kayamkulam (Kerala): Rail traffic towards Kayamkulam faced major disruptions on Tuesday following a technical fault in the overhead traction power lines along the Oachira-Kayamkulam railway stretch. Multiple key passenger and express services were stranded at intermediate stations across the corridor while technical teams initiated emergency power blocks to resolve the electrical failure.

Several long-distance and regional trains were affected by the sudden outage. The Kollam-Kottayam MEMU service was held at Karunagappally station, and the Nagercoil Junction-Mangaluru Amrit Bharat Express was stopped at Sasthamkotta. Among the long-distance services stranded at surrounding halts were the Thiruvananthapuram Central-Hazrat Nizamuddin Swarnajayanti Superfast Express, the Thiruvananthapuram Central-Hazrat Nizamuddin Rajdhani Express, the Thiruvananthapuram Central-MGR Chennai Central Mail and the Thiruvananthapuram North-SMVT Bengaluru Special.

Railway engineering teams promptly commenced overhead line restoration efforts. Authorities assured that work is underway on a priority basis to rectify the electrical failure and restore normal train schedules across the sector as quickly as possible.
