The Thiruvananthapuram Central-Dr MGR Chennai Central Superfast Express was rescheduled by more than 16 hours due to the late running of its pairing train, according to Southern Railway
Thiruvananthapuram: The Thiruvananthapuram Central-Dr MGR Chennai Central Superfast Express (Train No. 12698) faced a major delay, with its departure rescheduled by 16 hours and 45 minutes due to the late running of the pairing train.
According to Southern Railway, the train was originally scheduled to depart from Thiruvananthapuram Central at 7:15 pm on July 25, 2026. The service was rescheduled to leave at 12 noon on July 26, resulting in a delay of nearly 17 hours.

The delay affected passengers travelling from Kerala to Tamil Nadu, with railway authorities issuing updates regarding the revised departure timing.
The return journey of the train was also expected to be affected due to the delayed schedule. Passengers were advised to check the latest railway updates before travelling.

Another Chennai train service rescheduled
Southern Railway also announced a delay for Train No. 12840 Dr MGR Chennai Central-Howrah Superfast Mail.
The train, scheduled to depart from Chennai Central at 7 pm on July 26, was rescheduled to leave at 9:45 pm, resulting in a delay of 2 hours and 45 minutes due to the late running of its pairing train.
Railway authorities attributed both delays to operational reasons linked to delayed incoming services.
