Kochi: Kochi City Police is yet to register a case over a complaint filed by a woman doctor accusing a senior of sexually harassing her during her house surgency period at the Ernakulam General Hospital.
However, the police officials expressed willingness to register a case if the woman lodged the complaint in person. The incident came to light after the young doctor shared the ordeal in a complaint filed via email to the hospital authorities.
The incident related to the complaint happened in 2019 when the lady doctor was undergoing house surgency at the General Hospital. She alleged that a senior physician at Ernakulam General Hospital forcibly kissed her. The complainant also shared her account of the incident on Facebook. The accused doctor is presently working in another hospital.
The doctor lodged her complaint via email, with copies being sent to the health department director and the hospital superintendent. Later, the hospital authorities notified Kochi City Police of the complaint.
Kochi police claim there are legal issues in registering a case based on the complaint issued to the hospital. As a result, the police are awaiting the woman to come forward with a formal complaint.
