Satheesan clarified that it is not the United Democratic Front’s role to encourage ministers’ wives to file complaints against their husbands.

Thiruvananthapuram: Opposition Leader V. D. Satheesan on Monday sharply criticised the Kerala Police and the Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan over serious allegations raised by Bindu Menon against her husband and minister KB Ganesh Kumar.
Speaking in Thiruvananthapuram, Satheesan said it was shocking that police officers who reached the spot allegedly failed to assist the complainant and instead left the scene. He questioned whether the police fled out of fear because the complaint involved a minister’s family. The opposition leader added that such incidents were a disgrace to a government that frequently claims to ensure women’s safety, and demanded that the Chief Minister respond to the people of Kerala.
According to Satheesan, Bindu Menon was allegedly locked inside a room and had to call the police for help. Even after the police arrived, he said, they neither checked her condition nor investigated whether she had been assaulted or injured, and did not attempt to rescue her from the situation.
“Which woman can expect safety from such a police force? The police abandoned the complainant and left. What kind of pathetic situation is this? What kind of government is this?” Satheesan asked, adding sarcastically that even if those responsible feel no shame, the public certainly does.
Satheesan also said that the Congress party in Kerala has a clear stand on such issues. The opposition is waiting to see what action the Chief Minister will take in the matter. He clarified that it is not the United Democratic Front’s role to encourage ministers’ wives to file complaints against their husbands.
He added that personal relationships, including how many people someone chooses to love, are matters of individual privacy. However, he stressed that this case involves a woman’s complaint alleging that staff members, acting on the minister’s instructions, attacked her.
Ganesh Kumar's wife levelled allegations of infidelity against him after he denied the rumours circulating on social media regarding the matter.
Bindhu Menon said there had been marital issues with Ganesh Kumar since their marriage in 2014.
The Kerala Congress (B) leader married Menon in 2014 after legally separating from Yamini Thankachy.
She said a major dispute occurred in 2019 and that she had sought the assistance of former DGP and BJP leader R Sreelekha, who is her relative.
Menon said she had been living separately for the past several months because of Ganesh's relationship with several women.
