Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has issued a response to Governor Arif Mohammad Khan, asserting that he has nothing to hide and has not intentionally withheld information. In his letter, the Chief Minister also expressed strong opposition to the claims made by the Governor in his letter written to the CM.
The Governor had previously summoned both Chief Secretary Sarada Muraleedharan and Director General of Police Shaik Darvesh Saheb to explain issues related to gold smuggling. The state's refusal to comply with this direction prompted the Governor to send a sharply worded letter to the Chief Minister on Tuesday, alleging that there are matters the Chief Minister is concealing.
In his response, the Chief Minister categorically denied these accusations, describing them as baseless. He emphasised that all relevant information has been communicated to the Governor, and there has been no deliberate failure to disclose any details. The Chief Minister also reiterated that the state has taken necessary measures to combat gold smuggling.
Furthermore, he pointed out that the Central Government bears greater responsibility in this matter and urged the Governor to request that the Central authorities take effective action to prevent gold smuggling. The Chief Minister clarified that there is no room for argument on the issue with the Governor.
