Kozhikode: Pets within Kozhikode corporation limits will be issued license from this month. The application will start on Friday. Licenses are issued only after verification on the availability of animal husbandry facilities. A maximum of ten animals can be kept at home.

If there are more animals, special permission from the corporation is needed. Once the application is submitted, the Corporation Health Department officials will conduct a home inspection. The license will be issued only after inspection. It is learnt that the licensing process will eliminate the practice of dogs being abandoned.

The application form can be obtained from the Kozhikode Corporation office. The application should be submitted to the Health Circle office along with the completed application form, identity card of the owner, copy of anti-rabies vaccination certificate and colour photograph of the pet.

The license will be issued soon after the completion of inspection, said Dr VS Sreeshma, Corporation Veterinary Officer.
