Mahe: The BJP leader PC George has insulted the people of Mayyazhi (Mahe) by portraying the great cultural heritage of the land in a distorted manner, MLA Ramesh Parambath said referring to the former’s recent remarks made in Kozhikode. Speaking at a press conference on Friday, Parambath said that PC George, who speaks without thinking about the consequences, has insulted the people of Mayyazhi, including women.
The MLA demanded urgent intervention of National Commission for Women in this matter. The Election Commission should take action against George to keep people like him who portray individuals in a bad light, out of the election campaign.
PC George had said that Mahe is a land of prostitutes and that it is impossible to travel through the area at night. He alleged that gangsters, rowdies and thugs roam freely here.
‘P.C George should remember that there are women who had participated in the freedom struggle and whose names are immortalised in the fields of art, culture and literature. There were educated women in Mahe even during the French rule’, Parambath said.
The MLA also said that the Congress party would move court against PC George for insulting the modesty of women and inciting riots in the land.
