Palakkad: Pazhayidom’s kitchen is all set to serve delicious meals once again at the State School Science Festival in Palakkad. The kitchen has been established on the grounds of Government Victoria College and became active following the traditional ‘palukachal’ (milk boiling ceremony) held on Thursday evening. The kitchen is being run under the leadership of Chief Chef Pazhayidom Yadu (son of Pazhayidom Mohanan Namboothiri), with management support from the Kerala Science and Technology Association (KSTA).

The kitchen was inaugurated by Science Festival Food Committee Chairman, P. Mammikutty MLA, who performed the ‘palukachal’ to mark the beginning of the culinary festivities.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by Chief Chef Pazhayidom Yadu, Food Committee Convener M.K. Noushadali, KSTA State Vice President M.A. Arunkumar, M.R. Maheshkumar, B. Sunil, A.J. Sreeni, Muhammed Ashraf, and other dignitaries. In addition to the main dining facility at Government Victoria College, a sub-dining center has been set up at BEMHSS. Meals will be served to contestants from participating schools and officials through a buffet system.

For attendees of the Science Festival, three wholesome vegetarian meals will be served daily, along with evening tea and snacks. During the first three days, lunch will feature traditional dishes such as sambar, pulissery, kichadi, pachadi, avial, and kootukari, accompanied by a variety of payasams, including palpayasam, gothambu payasam, and ada pradhaman.

On the festival’s concluding day, vegetable biryani will be served for lunch. Lunch is being prepared to cater to 7,000 people, while breakfast, consisting of dosa, puttu, idli, and upma is planned for 2,000 attendees. Dinner, featuring items such as chapati and kuruma, will serve 4,000 to 4,500 people. A dining facility accommodating up to 1,000 people at a time has been arranged on the Victoria College grounds.
