Kannur: CPM leaders Sudhir Kumar, area committee member and member of Poyiloor legislative council A Ashokan, visited Sharil’s residence on Sunday, who was killed in an explosion while making a bomb at Panoor. The visit came after the party claimed that they had no connection with the accused in the case of bomb-making. 

The blast took place on the terrace of a house that was under construction in Muliyathode, Panoor. 

The body of the deceased was brought to his residence in Puthoor the other day and arrangements were made for the last rites.

The party has already clarified that the accused have no connection with the party and have been alleged to have been accused of assaulting the members of the party. Leaders, including MV Govindan, stated that the prime accused in the bomb-making case, Sharil and Vinish, had beaten up CPM activists before. 

Panoor area secretary K. E. Kunjabdulla stated that no one participated in the funeral rites or received the body. He also expressed uncertainty regarding whether party workers, who are relatives of the deceased, had attended the funeral. People visit places of mourning out of a sense of compassion and humanity, he said.

In relation to the Panoor bomb blast, police searches are underway in Nadapuram as well. Houses from where explosives were seized are being inspected. Inhabited areas and surroundings near the Peringathur River are also being searched.
