Alappuzha: The Kerala Food Department has decided to disburse commission soon to ration dealers for distributing free food kits during the pandemic. The decision was taken after the Supreme Court rejected a plea moved by the state government against the high court order in this regard.
However, Minister for Food and Supplies GR Anil proposed that the Onam kits given to yellow card holders should be distributed as a service without commission this time and the associations of ration dealers have agreed for the same. The minister had met the dealers and association leaders on Friday.
Further, a decision has also been taken to set up around 1000 K-stores in ration shops of the state. More products will also be sold at the K-stores to raise profits. However, the lists of the products will be decided only after holding talks with the ministers of industries, agriculture and animal husbandry.
