Kannur: A complaint has been filed alleging that a CPM local secretary was assaulted after he questioned the playing of the parody song “Pottiye kettiye…” at a ration shop. The incident took place at Arimpra in Kannur district. The injured person is Manoharan, a resident of Mullakkodi and the CPM local secretary.
Based on Manoharan’s complaint, a case has been registered against a man named Bhaskaran. However, Bhaskaran has also lodged a counter-complaint alleging that he was assaulted. Police have registered a case against Manoharan as well on the basis of this complaint.
The incident occurred on January 3. Bhaskaran was reportedly playing the parody song “Pottiye… Kettiye…” loudly on his mobile phone at his friend’s ration shop at Mullakkodi in Arimpra. Manoharan, who was present at the spot, questioned this, following which Bhaskaran allegedly assaulted him.
In his statement, CPM local secretary Manoharan said he was attacked for objecting to the song being played loudly on a regular basis.
Meanwhile, Bhaskaran has alleged that Manoharan assaulted him due to political animosity, pointing out that Bhaskaran’s wife had contested the local body elections as a UDF candidate.
