Kannur: Justifying the party stand to construct a memorial for those who got killed while making bombs at Panoor, CPM state committee member and party strongman P Jayarajan said that the party will continue with the martyrdom commemoration programmes being organised in memory of those who had sacrificed their lives for the party at Chettakandy.
In his Facebook post, Jayarajan criticized the media for labeling the party workers killed in the 2015 bomb blast as `bomb politicians’. "The right-wing media has termed those who sacrificed their lives at Chettakandy in 2015 as 'bomb politicians'" he stated.
The FB post carried the photographs of Shyju and Subeesh, the party workers killed in the blast. Jayarajan blamed the media for covering up the memorial built by RSS in connection with the death of their workers Ashwani and Surendran. It was in 2002 that, both Ashwani and Surendran got killed while making bomb, he said.
“Apart from this, BJP also had built another memorial to celebrate the martyrdom of Pradeepan and Dileesh, who too had got killed while making bombs”, PJ said.
In the post Jayarajan has trained his guns on KPCC president for coming up against bomb politics. “Another interesting thing is that, the person who has come up against the ‘bomb politics’ of CPM is KPCC president K Sudhakaran. He is the man who had started bomb politics in Kannur. RSS too has taken the task of hunting down the CPM”, Jayarajan said.
Meanwhile, Jayarajan stated that the recent death of a person making a bomb at Kunnothuparamba near Panoor would not be included in the list of martyrdom. "The death was the result of an ongoing clash between two groups and will not be considered martyrdom," he said. The media and opposition are using this death against the CPM. The party has publicly denounced the incident and assured that it will not be included in the list. "Nobody can deny historical incidents," Jayarajan added.
The decision of CPM to build a memorial for Shyju and Subeesh, who were killed while making bombs at Chettakandy near Panoor in 2015, has created controversy. CPM now portrays the victims as martyrs and takes the stand that the duo were killed while resisting the attacks of RSS.
