Kottayam: Baselios Marthoma Mathews III, the supreme head of the Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church of India, criticised the union government for its “failure” to curb the ongoing riots in Manipur. In a statement to the media in Kottayam, he expressed his disappointment and called the situation a disgrace to Indian culture.
The church has raised concerns about the escalating issues in Manipur, including the destruction of churches and the persistence of the rebellion. Despite the union home minister's intervention, the riots have not been effectively curbed, and the union government's response has been inadequate. The church insists that the government must find a solution, stating that no one should be subjected to violence.
