Thiruvananthapuram: The government offices in the state will stop issuing paper receipts from July 1 with the launch of an app named ‘e-TR 5’. The app will issue the payment receipt to the citizens on their mobile phones. The state government has decided to use the app as most of the payments turned online.
The app will function on both mobile phones and computers with internet connectivity. The payments will be accepted through net banking, card, UPI, QR code and POS machines. Even if a citizen makes payment by cash, the receipt will be available only in online mode.
It is reported that all government offices till the taluk level will end the practice of issuing paper receipts on June 15, while all other offices will continue to issue paper receipts till June 30.
From July 1, treasuries will not accept the amount realized through paper receipts.
