Thiruvananthapuram: Twenty five-year-old Bishweshwar Sinha and sixteen-year-old Rakhi Devi (not original name), a couple from Dimapur in Nagaland, had arrived in Thiruvananthapuram in January last year. The duo were married as per their gotra rules. The girl boarded the train to Kerala in the hope of starting a new life by staying with her husband who works in Thiruvananthapuram. However, dramatic incidents unfolded in the life of the couple in recent times. Eventually, Rakhi Devi boarded her train back to Dimapur on Wednesday (July 26) night along with her nine-month-old baby. Sadly, her husband, Bishweshwar Sinha was imprisoned in Kerala under POCSO act. Here’s how the incidents unfolded in the couple’s life.

Bishweshwar, who worked in a hotel in Kadinamkulam, had rented a house near his workplace soon after marriage. In the following months, his wife became pregnant and life was going all good for the Nagaland couple. But tragedy struck their lives when Bishweshwar was arrested for marrying a ‘minor’ girl; somebody had tipped off the police leading to his arrest.

Following the incident, the child welfare committee provided care to Rakhi Devi and she gave birth to a baby girl on October 9. However, no one turned up to bail out Bishweshwar in the case, forcing his wife to leave the state along with their child. Rakhi Devi is hopeful of seeing her husband soon.

In the CWC (Child Welfare Committee) investigation it was found out that the couple had married as per Gotra rules. The relatives of the couple in Nagaland expressed disappointment over the incident.

Rakhi was accompanied by four police officials (two women) and an officer from the social justice department in her journey to Nagaland. Meanwhile, district CWC chairperson Shaniba Beegum has begun efforts to provide bail to Bishweshwar in the case. The district legal service is helping her out in the case.
