
Thiruvananthapuram: Chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan said that an investigation under a special officer will be launched in parallel to the reinvestigation of Crime Branch in the case pertaining to the death of director Nayana Surya. CM assured a parallel probe when Nayana Surya’s parents approached him requesting CBI probe in the case.
In the petition submitted to the CM, Nayana Surya’s parents demanded action against the police officers who attempted to topple the investigation.

Following the death of Nayana Surya, the postmortem was conducted on February 24, 2019. However, the then forensic surgeon K Sasikala had signed the report only on April 5, 2019, which evoked controversy.
Museum Police have allegedly handed over the autopsy report to Nayana’s brother and directed him to conceal the report citing the cause of death as asphyxiophilia. The family came to know the real cause of death as strangulation only when Mathrubhumi surfaced the postmortem report.
Nayana’s parents alleged that the police had taken her belongings under custody and later returned her clothes, laptop and mobile phone only. All data in the laptop and the messages in the mobile phone were wiped out.
Nayana had worked in KSFDC when director Lenin Rajendran served as the chairman there. Nayana’s mysterious death happened a month after the death of Lenin Rajendran, while he was holding the position of KSFDC chairman.
