Under Kerala Police's anti-narcotics drive ‘Operation Toofan’, authorities have initiated procedures to confiscate illegal assets of 40 individuals, frozen 148 bank accounts, and issued Interpol notices to track foreign operatives.

Thiruvananthapuram: Following the launch of Operation Toofan to curb illicit drug trafficking and substance abuse in Kerala, the police received 8,125 phone complaints and 5,668 WhatsApp tips, according to Nodal Officer IG Putta Vimaladitya. Speaking at a press conference, the senior officer highlighted massive public participation in the initiative and noted that complaints were also directly reaching the Home Minister's office.
Procedures have been initiated to seize property and wealth acquired through the illicit drug trade by 40 individuals. Authorities froze 148 bank accounts and seized 186 vehicles alongside 801 mobile phones used for drug distribution.
Key operatives smuggling narcotics into India from overseas have been identified. Interpol support has been enlisted, leading to four Red Corner notices, one Blue Corner notice, and ten Look Out circulars being issued.
To prevent repeat offenses, police compiled a comprehensive database of roughly 2,500 individuals who are currently under active surveillance. IG Vimaladitya assured that strict, coordinated enforcement will continue to dismantle both local supply lines and international syndicates targeting the state.
