In an emotional note, Namitha said that she still can’t accept Bijeesh’s demise and that she always saw him as her brother.

Popular actor Namitha Pramod has shared a devastating tribute to her long-time makeup artist, Bijeesh Balan, who was tragically killed in a fireworks accident in Mundathikode, Thrissur.
The victim, a well-known figure in the industry and a member of the FEFKA All Kerala Makeup and Hair Stylist Union, was most recently working on the film Thudakkam, which stars Vismaya Mohanlal.
In an emotional statement, Namitha Pramod described Bijeesh Balan not merely as a colleague, but as a "brother" and an integral part of her family. Having worked together for over eight years, the actor expressed her profound shock at his sudden passing following the firecracker blast.

‘He was family’
Writing to her followers, Namitha spoke of the deep personal bond they shared:
"Dear Biji, I can’t express what I’m going through today. My heart feels unbearably heavy. I never imagined I would lose someone like you in the Mundathikode, Thrissur firecracker blast. I still can’t accept that you are no longer with us.
You took care of me for more than 8 years. You were never just my makeup artist, you were family. You made me feel safe, happy, and comfortable every single day at work. I always saw you as my brother."
The actor highlighted Bijeesh Balan’s "genuine and innocent" nature, noting that his passion for the Thrissur Pooram festival was "unmatched."
Industry in mourning
The tragedy has sent shockwaves through the Malayalam film community.
Namitha Pramod admitted that returning to a film set without her trusted confidant would be daunting. I don’t know how I’ll step onto a set again without you. You were such an important part of my life. You meant everything to us. Gone too soon. I will miss you every single day," she added.
Authorities are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the Mundathikode blast, which has once again raised questions regarding safety protocols at firework-related events in the region.
