Thrissur: The investigation team looking into the alleged seizure of banned substances from a beauty parlour owner in Chalakudy faced a setback as a laboratory test has determined that the seized substance is not Lysergic acid diethylamide (LSD) stamps.

After the incident created a massive public uproar, the senior officials sought a final report from the crime branch team of the excise department investigating the case.

The probing team has also failed to trace the identity of the person who tipped off the official about Sheela Sunny, the beauty parlour owner, claiming she allegedly deals with the highly potent LSD stamps. The officials have sought the help of the police to trace the identity of the person.

At the same time, the probing team alleged that Inspector K Satheesan, an official of the Irinjalakuda Excise Circle Office, who received the anonymous tip, has not been cooperating with their investigation.

Meanwhile, Sheela also questions the progress made by the probing team in the case despite officials receiving the lab result in the first week of May. She alleged that officials are yet to question the person she suspects in the case.

Sheela Sunny (51), owner of 'She Style' beauty parlour in Chalakudy, was arrested on February 27 for allegedly possessing 12 LSD stamps worth Rs 60,000.

The excise officials then maintained that Sheela Sunny had been involved in illicit drug business under the pretext of running the parlour. In a raid that followed, excise officials found 12 LSD stamps hidden inside her scooter and bag.

However, a laboratory test result revealed that the seized products were not synthetic drugs. Sheela was granted bail by the High Court on May 10 after spending 72 days in Viyyur Jail.
