Thrissur: In a tragic incident aboard the Ernakulam-Patna express, Malayalam movie actor Vinod, known for his guest roles in several films, died after being pushed from a moving train. Vinod has starred in around 15 movies and was popularly known as Vinod Kannan in the cinema world.

Vinod, recognized for his roles alongside industry heavyweights like Mohanlal, made his debut in Aashiq Abu’s 'Gangster'. He featured in notable films including 'Mister Fraud', 'Peruchazhi', 'Ennum Eppozhum', 'Pulimurugan', and 'Oppam'. His portrayal as a DYSP in Oppam film garnered attention.

The TTE was killed when he was pushed out of the moving train by Rajnikanta, a passenger, in a dispute that broke out between the two regarding tickets. Vinod fell on the track en route to Thrissur from Shoranur. It is also said that another train coming from the opposite direction had hit Vinod when he fell outside.

Rajnikanta was in an inebriated state when he was arrested by the Palakkad RPF. The police said that the accused is a regular alcoholic.

The accused stated that he pushed the TTE for asking him a Rs 1000 fine for traveling in the reserved compartment with a general ticket.

Vinod’s friend, who was on duty along with him, said that such incidents were common in the Ernakulam-Patna express.
