Idukki: Amid the tragic reports of death and destruction from the landslides in Wayanad, a touching story has emerged from Idukki. A mother of two has offered her breast milk to infants who lost their mothers in the disaster that has claimed 173 lives.
The woman, along with her husband and two children, aged four years and four months, has travelled from their home in Idukki to Wayanad. Speaking to the media, the woman said, "I am a mother of two small children. I know how it must be for children without their mothers. That is what prompted me to take this decision."

She explained that her husband was very supportive when she proposed helping the orphaned infants. Her husband added that when they learned about the children who had lost one or both parents, they felt compelled to assist. "Therefore, we took this decision," he said.
The landslides, which struck around 2 am and 4:10 am on Tuesday, hit residents while they were asleep, resulting in many casualties. The landslides, caused by intense rains, affected the scenic villages of Mundakkai, Chooralmala, Attamala, and Noolpuzha, leaving behind widespread devastation and sorrow.
Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan will visit Wayanad on Thursday to address the landslide. He will lead an all-party meeting at the Collectorate at 11:30 am. Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi are also scheduled to visit Wayanad. They arrived at Kannur International Airport in the morning on a special flight from Delhi. They are expected to reach Meppadi by 1:00 pm and will visit relief camps and hospitals to meet those affected by the disaster.
Meanwhile, the desperate search for the missing persons continues even as the team involved in the mission has no clue regarding the number of persons who disappeared as a huge part of the hill which came down with vengeance carrying heavy boulders and loads of mud wiped out everything that stood in its way.
