Thiruvananthapuram: KPCC president K Sudhakaran is set to file a petition in the Kerala High Court on Tuesday, challenging the Crime Branch's decision to implicate him in a cheating case related to the controversial antique dealer Monson Mavunkal.

On Monday, a notice was served under CrPC Section 41 A, seeking his appearance before the crime branch team probing the cheating case against Monson Mavunkal on June 14. The report was submitted to the Ernakulam ACJM court, naming Sudhakaran as the second accused.

The Crime Branch decided to interrogate the KPCC president based on a statement by complainants who alleged that they had handed over Rs 10 crores to Monson in the presence of Sudhakaran.

Sudhakaran would hold a press conference on Tuesday to respond to the allegations, labelled by UDF as a move by the LDF government to silence the opposition front in the state.

Interestingly, the move against Sudhakaran comes three days after the Kerala government ordered a vigilance probe against his party colleague and Opposition leader V D Satheesan for allegedly violating Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Act (FCRA).
