Kochi: The annual general body meeting of the Kochi-based film artists' organisation AMMA (Association of Malayalam Movie Artists) began in Ernakulam on Sunday. According to reports Mohanlal may assume charge as the president of the organisation. However, he had earlier stated that he would not contest the post if a voting process is held.
No decision has been made regarding the appointment of a new person for the post of General Secretary. In the wake of the resignation of General Secretary actor Siddique, it is understood that the general feeling of the organisation is that it would be better for the Joint Secretary to take over the role for the time being. The General Secretary should be appointed immediately for smooth functioning. Some members are of the opinion that people including Babu Raj should be considered for the post.
Unni Mukundan, who resigned from the post of treasurer, will be replaced. It is reported that this election will be held without a contest.
The meeting will discuss the proposals put forward by the Producers' Association as part of preventing drug use in the film industry. The proposal was put forward by the Producers Association. It is said that everyone should sign an affidavit stating they will not use prohibited drugs in places related to the film.
