AMMA will hold its annual general body meeting on June 22 in Kochi to select new office bearers following last year’s resignations. Actor Mohanlal is unlikely to seek re-election as president despite speculation

Kochi: A crucial decision will be made regarding the leadership of the Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA) at its Annual General Body Meeting, scheduled for June 22 in Ernakulam. Everyone is eagerly waiting to see if Mohanlal will return as the president. Some members in the ad hoc committee had hoped that he would return to the position.
There were allegations of sexual harassment against some committee members, including actor Siddique, who was the general secretary. In August, some of the office bearers, including Siddique and treasurer Unni Mukundan, resigned, prompting the dissolution of the administrative committee.
After the dissolution of the administrative committee, an ad hoc committee was in charge of governance. Mohanlal continued as a member in the body, although not as president.
The members may be allowed to continue in their previous positions at the general meeting to be held on Sunday. Meanwhile, Mohanlal is reported to have stated that he is not interested in contesting another election. If a vote is demanded at the general meeting, Mohanlal will not contest for the post of president.
New office bearers will be elected for the posts left vacant on Sunday. Meanwhile, reports suggest the process may be conducted without a formal election.
