Kochi: Police questioned Saiju Thankachan, a friend of `No 18’ hotel owner Roy J Vayalat, regarding the sexual harassment case. The questioning was based on the girls’ confidential statement. An audio clip of the accused was recovered from Saiju's phone. In addition, Saiju's friendship with Anjali and their dealings with No 18 hotel will also be investigated. 

Police had examined Saiju's phone before in connection with the death of the two Kerala models. There were videos of Anjali on Saiju’s phone but the investigation did not move to her as there was not enough evidence at the time. Meanwhile, Anjali's name was mentioned in the statement given by the girls. According to the girls, Anjali took them to the hotel in Audi car owned by Saiju. 

According to the statement of the Kozhikode native mother and daughter, Roy had sexually assaulted them at Hotel No 18 last October. The names of Roy's friend Saiju Thankachan and Saiju's friend Anjali were added in the case registered at the Fort Kochi police station. 

The Kozhikode native girl was assaulted a few weeks before the death of the models. The visuals of the assault were recorded on the mobile phone by the other accused. According to the complaint, Anjali had threatened to circulate the video on social media if the victim lodges a complaint with the police.
