Meppadi: A medical student from Tamil Nadu who was on a tour to Wayanad died of electrocution at a private resort in Wayanad on Sunday night. The deceased was identified as Balaji (21), a native of Dindigul. 

The incident happened at a resort in Kunnambetta around 7:30 PM in the night. Balaji, who was on a leisure trip, arrived in the district along with 11 other friends on Sunday. However tragedy struck when he was coming out of the swimming pool at the resort in which was staying, the medico apparently got electrocuted from a faulty grill lamp beside the pool.        

Balaji was a MBBS student at the Aarupadai Veedu Medical College in Puducherry. The dead body which was preserved at the morgue in Dr Moopen’s Medical College was taken to the taluk hospital in Sulthan Bathery for postmortem on Monday afternoon. Meppadi police have registered a case for unnatural death.
