Thiruvananthapuram: A heated altercation erupted between Mayor Arya Rajendran and a KSRTC bus driver on the road, reportedly triggered by the bus allegedly failing to yield to the private vehicle she was travelling in. The incident occurred at 9:45 pm in Plamoodu on Saturday.
Arya intercepted the KSRTC bus, alleging that her vehicle was not given way. A verbal dispute ensued upon confrontation with the driver, with accusations levelled against him for making inappropriate gestures towards the mayor. Arya was accompanied by her husband, MLA Sachin Dev, in the vehicle.
It is claimed that the over-speeding KSRTC bus nearly caused Arya's vehicle to collide with another. The police have decided to review CCTV footage of the incident to ascertain the facts.
Arya promptly lodged a complaint with the police, citing the bus driver's dangerous driving. Additionally, charges have been filed against the driver for his alleged indecent behaviour towards Arya and Sachin.
The police have formally registered a case against KSRTC bus driver Yadu in connection with the altercation. In response, the driver has also filed a complaint against the mayor, accusing her of disrupting his journey.
