Kalpetta: The search for the tiger will continue today after a woman was killed by the animal in Wayanad. A 48-hour curfew has been imposed in several areas following the incident. The curfew, which will begin at 6 am on Monday, will restrict movement and activities in the Pancharakolly, Chirakkara, Pilakavu Moonnuroad, and Maniyamkunnu areas.

Transport has been banned in the affected areas, and residents have been advised to remain indoors. All shops have been instructed to remain closed during the curfew period to ensure public safety.

Special arrangements have been made for students appearing for examinations. Dedicated transport services have been organised, and students requiring assistance have been advised to contact their local councillors for further details.

A member of the Rapid Response Team (RRT) was injured in a tiger attack during the search on Sunday. Jayasurya, one of the RRT members, was rushed to the hospital for treatment after suffering a minor injury to his right hand.

Woman killed by tiger

The RRT's search followed the tragic death of 47-year-old Radha, a member of the Adivasi community and the wife of temporary forest watcher Achappan. Radha was killed in a suspected tiger attack while plucking coffee at Priyadarshini Estate in Wayanad’s Mananthavady village on Friday morning. The attack occurred around 8:30 am, and her body was discovered deep in the forest by forest officials during their routine patrol. Her head was found partially consumed, suggesting the involvement of a tiger.
