Ankola (Karnataka): The search for Arjun, a lorry driver from Kozhikode who went missing after a landslide accident in Shirur, was briefly marred by a disagreement between Malayali rescue workers and Karnataka police. The verbal dispute ensued after the Karnataka Police informed that only 20 Malayalis could participate in the rescue operation.

The authorities have stressed that 20 workers from Kerala are deemed sufficient for ongoing operations as the region is facing heavy rainfall and there is a chance for another landslide to hit the area.

Ranjith Israel, a rescue worker, confirmed that tensions with the police had been resolved following discussions with the Superintendent of Police (SP), resulting in the smooth continuation of rescue efforts.

Recent updates indicate that the rescue operation is nearing its final stages. Signals detected by radar deployed by the Madras Regiment suggest the presence of metallic objects approximately eight meters underground. While these signals are suspected to be that of the buried lorry, Kozhikode MP MK Raghavan cautioned that definitive confirmation is pending as excavation of the site continues.
