Kochi: Malayalam actor Salim Kumar has been admitted to a private hospital and is currently on ventilator support, according to initial reports.

The actor is undergoing treatment under close medical supervision.

Hospital sources said Salim Kumar remains in intensive care, although it is not yet clear whether his latest health complication is connected to the liver-related treatment he has been undergoing in recent years.

Despite his longstanding health issues, the actor had continued to make public appearances. He was recently seen at an event in Kochi and also cast his vote in this year's Assembly elections.

Kumar was most recently seen in the films ‘Bha Bha Ba’ and ‘Azadi.’ While he first rose to prominence for his sharp comic timing and satirical performances, he later earned critical acclaim for a range of nuanced dramatic roles, establishing himself as one of Malayalam cinema's most versatile actors.
