Malappuram: Valanchery native AK Sarath Prakash has been weaving magic through his writings over the last one decade. The plays, mono acts and skits scripted by him never cease to amaze the audience.
The gifted writer puts forth socially relevant topics through his scripts which manage to hook the audience instantly and prove successful in keeping them engaged till the very end of the show. As a result, various Arabic dramas, English skits and mono acts scripted by Sarath have helped both the senior and junior students to win big at state school festivals. His prominent plays include ‘Blathy’, ‘Jimmu’ and ‘Panchami Returns’.
During his school days, Sarath had actively participated in several plays and used to perform mono acts. However, now the experimental-innovative mono acts penned by him are brought to life on stage through enchanting performances by his sibling Meenakshi.
The scripts written by Sarath were a welcome change for the audience who were bogged down by cliche YouTube mono acts which were regularly recreated on stage. Writing for movies has never been Sarath’s priority. He instead focuses on his goal of discussing socially relevant issues through the most apt artform, whatsoever it may be. He loves writing scripts for children, who he believes are the torch bearers of future generations.
In the year 2018, Sarath had written a book titled ‘S oru Samaramanu’. He is also the writer-director of award winning multilingual short film ‘Paski’ and music video titled ‘Patharathe Porithidaam’.
Sarath is presently working as an Arts teacher under the Diamond Jubilee Fellowship program of Kerala Cultural department.
