Adoor: Pathanamthitta native Zac Harriss is a director who made a big experiment in Malayalam cinema with his very first film. He entered the film industry by writing and directing two films simultaneously. One in Malayalam and the other in Tamil.

Zac is the scriptwriter and director of the Malayalam film Adrishyam, which was released in 2022. At the same time as the Malayalam film was shot, the same story was shot parallelly in Tamil as 'Yugi'. The same story, same background, two languages and only a few actors were its speciality. While Narain, Joju George, and Sharafudheen played the lead roles in Malayalam, Kathir and Natarajan Natty Subramaniam played the same role in Tamil. Zac's confidence and determination led him to experiment in his first film.

Leaves foreign plans; Films enough

Born and raised in Pathanamthitta, Zac spent his childhood in Pathanamthitta town itself. He completed schooling at Mar Thoma Higher Secondary School and Govt.HSS, Kadammanitta. Later, he moved to Kottayam to pursue his Bachelor of Law. He flew to a European country for work. However, Zac's mind did not allow him to give up the dream of cinema that had been with him since childhood. Finally, he left his job abroad and returned home to pursue cinema.

Period of struggle

Although he was able to make his first film in 2022, Zac's efforts had begun in 2006. In fact, he spent many years wandering around for films. After returning home from abroad, he made film friendships centred around Ernakulam. Then he worked as an assistant director for many years. He also did small programs to earn money. After years of hardship, preparations for his first film, which he wrote and directed, reached the final stage in 2019. However, due to Covid, it did not happen. Finally, the first film was released in 2022.

His desire was to add something related to Pathanamthitta in his first film. In the film, Joju George's character is portrayed as an Ayyappa devotee who is going to Sabarimala. In Tamil, that character is also portrayed as an Ayyappa devotee. In addition, an Ayyappa devotional song sung by Joju was included in the film. This song became very popular with the audience. Zac is interested in moving forward in films as a scriptwriter-director. Zac is going to do a new film with Antony Varghese Pepe in the lead role. He is preparing to do two more films.
