Kochi: Mystery surrounds an incident where a domestic help attempted to escape from an apartment here through window using sari and seriously injured herself. The incident occurred on Saturday at 8 am.

The 50-year-old maid at an apartment in Link Horizon tower at Marine Drive attempted to jump outside the window on the sixth floor using a sari tied onto the window bar. She then jumped down seriously hurting herself.

First she was taken to the general hospital in Ernakulam and later to a private hospital. She is admitted to the ICU.

Police suspect mental stress or physical abuse over the incident. They found that the apartment was locked when she jumped. The possibility of being locked inside for days is also looked into.  

The owner of the apartment is Ernakulam native Imthyas Ahamad who is also the secretary of flat owners association.
