Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala: Two people, identified as siblings, have been found dead in a hotel room in Thiruvananthapuram on Sunday.
The deceased, Dattatreya Bamane, 48, and Muktha Bamane, 45, are natives of Maharashtra. The police recovered a suicide note from the scene, in which the siblings expressed that despite having relatives, they felt like orphans, were unemployed, and suffered from illness. They arrived in Thiruvananthapuram on January 17.
On Sunday morning, the siblings did not respond to hotel staff’s calls. The room was locked from the inside. Upon breaking into the room, they found Dattatreya hanging from the ceiling fan, while his sister was found lying on the bed.
The initial investigation suggests that the deaths may be a case of suicide, as there are no signs of injury or foul play. "We are currently verifying their background," said Nakul Rajendra Deshmukh, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Thiruvananthapuram.
Additionally, the note requested that the bodies not be released to their relatives, leaving that decision to the police. The authorities, along with a dog squad, have initiated the investigation.
