Thiruvananthapuram: The Left Democratic Front (LDF) has decided to postpone seat-sharing discussions after assessing that the election announcement may be delayed. A front meeting was convened on Wednesday to finalise seat-sharing arrangements after completing bilateral talks between allied parties. However, at the very beginning of the meeting, convenor TP Ramakrishnan informed that the election announcement might be delayed and therefore seat-related matters could be discussed later. The meeting was held in the presence of Chief Minister.

Addressing a press meet after the meeting, TP Ramakrishnan said that all preparations for the elections have been completed and each party will announce candidates once the election dates are declared. He added that the house-to-house campaign will be completed soon. The government’s performance, he said, gives confidence that the Left will return to power.

He also said that the Central government must ensure safety of Indians, including Malayalis, in the current war situation. With flight services suspended, many people are stranded. The Chief Minister has already held discussions with leaders of the Loka Kerala Sabha regarding the issue. Standing with peace efforts, the LDF will organise three regional rallies — in Kozhikode on March 6, Kochi on March 7 and Thiruvananthapuram on March 8, Ramakrishnan added.

Everyone has right not to renew membership

TP Ramakrishnan also said that everyone has the right either to renew or not renew their party membership. He was responding to the statement by G Sudhakaran that he would not renew his party membership. He said it is part of an organisational process and that the procedures for renewing party membership have not yet been completed. Ramakrishnan added that the party does not have a practice of belittling or undermining anyone.
