Kozhikode: Heavy rainfall has triggered landslides in the Vilangad and Malayangad areas of Kozhikode, resulting in the destruction of the Malayangad bridge. Consequently, 12 families have been cut off from access. Four houses located near the river have been damaged, although no casualties have been reported.

The landslide has also impacted Maruthonkara village near Kuttiyadi, but no fatalities have been recorded.

The Palakkutty region in Koduvally has experienced waterlogging, leading to traffic disruptions along the Wayanad road.

Additionally, water has entered the Christian Church in Mukkam.

Meanwhile, massive landslides have struck Mundakkai and Chooralmala areas in Wayanad district, causing significant devastation. The incident occurred at around two o'clock on Tuesday morning, with a subsequent landslide reported at approximately 4:10 a.m. 36 people were confirmed to have died and hundreds are suspected to have been trapped. Mundakkai, Chooralmala, Attamala, and Noolpuzha villages were among the areas affected and cut off by the landslides, authorities said.

Many areas of Kozhikode district have been experiencing heavy rain since Monday morning. The Chembukadavu Bridge has been submerged in water since morning. The Tribal families in Chembukadavu area are in danger. Residents of the Kaithappoyil area were trapped in their houses.
