Thiruvananthapuram: Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of the Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) Biju Prabhakar on Sunday took to its official Facebook to explain about relevance of KSRTC-SWIFT.
In the Facebook video of KSRTC Social Media Cell, Prabhakar said that KSRTC-SWIFT was launched to rescue KSRTC. He noted that the narrative against KSRTC-SWIFT is aimed at creating insecurity among the employees.
He said that KSRTC-SWIFT was launched as a new legal entity to avail loans from Kerala Infrastructure Investment Fund Board (KIIFB) for the purchase of new buses. “The revenue generated from the new legal entity is directly going to KSRTC’s own account,” he cited.
He alleged that some vehicle staffers have set up parallel parcel service in KSRTC buses. He elaborated on alcohol and rice smuggling done by some. “Those people are the ones having loses due to the launch of KSRTC-SWIFT,” he said.
Apart from this, Prabhakar slammed the attitude of trade unions towards reforms. Some of them have the precedent of opposing anything and everything that is reformatory, he said. They then complain about salary issues, he added.
