Kochi: KSRTC has informed the Kerala High Court (HC) that the state government has sanctioned an additional amount of Rs 30 crore to pay the salary dues of its employees for the month of June. KSRTC MD further added that this fund would be used to clear the dues within two days.
He said that a sum of Rs 130 crore has been requested from the government to distribute salary and incentives for the coming months. Justice Devan Ramachandran instructed the government to clarify their decision regarding this demand.
The HC’s intervention is in light of the petition filed in court following the delay in disbursement of salary and pension. The case will be taken up for consideration again on August 16.
The senior government pleader informed the court that the severe financial crisis and the lack of monetary support from the union government are reasons for this delay. However, the state government continues to extend whatever support it can to KSRTC, he added.
