Pathanamthitta: At least five people were injured after a Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) bus lost control and crashed into a police jeep in Adoor town, Pathanamthitta district, on Sunday evening. The injured include three policemen and two accused who were being transported in the jeep at the time of the accident.

According to officials, the incident occurred when personnel from Koipuram police station were escorting the accused to Kottarakkara jail. As the police jeep was moving through Adoor town, the KSRTC bus reportedly rammed into it. After the initial impact, the bus went on to hit another bus before finally coming to a halt.

An Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) sustained serious injuries in the crash and was shifted to Kottayam Medical College Hospital for advanced treatment. The remaining injured policemen and the two accused were taken to nearby hospitals, where their condition is reported to be stable.

Preliminary information suggests that a possible brake failure may have caused the KSRTC bus to lose control, though an official investigation is underway to determine the exact cause of the accident.

The collision led to heavy traffic congestion in Adoor town, with vehicles piling up on key roads. Police and traffic authorities were deployed to manage the situation, and traffic movement was gradually restored after significant effort.

Further details are awaited as authorities continue to assess the circumstances surrounding the accident.
