Kasaragod: A social media post by BJP Kasaragod district president M L Ashwini has triggered speculation about internal discord within the party. The post surfaced at a time when discussions are ongoing over the BJP’s performance in the recent local body elections in the district, with some interpreting the message as suggesting that she was being made a scapegoat. The post was written in Kannada and circulated widely on social media.

However, Ashwini claimed that the post had no connection with party matters and said it was a general message she usually shares.

“Those who are consumed by jealousy over a woman’s rise try to clip her wings. But her flight ends up wounding them instead. Her self-confidence burns them like embers…” reads the Facebook post written in Kannada by M L Ashwini.

The BJP faced setbacks in the northern regions of the district, where it had earlier made gains, in the latest local body elections. As debates on the results gained momentum on social media, Ashwini’s post also drew attention. However, she maintained that the party had not suffered a setback in the local body polls and claimed that, by the numbers, the BJP’s vote share had increased.
