Kozhikode (Kerala): Online food delivery services have been disrupted in Kozhikode as Swiggy workers launched an indefinite strike against what they describe as anti-worker policies and exploitation by the management.

The workers have raised 13 demands, including the provision of minimum wages, daily and weekly incentives and bonuses, equal pay for equal work, fair kilometre-based charges and the establishment of district-level Swiggy offices.

Despite filing complaints with the Labour Commissioner and other authorities, the management has reportedly refused to engage in discussions. Workers alleged that they have been subjected to exploitation for years and had notified the company about the strike over a month ago. However, they added, the company has only taken steps to undermine the protest.

The strike is being supported by various trade unions, including CITU, HMS, INTUC and STU.
