Kozhikode: The corporation has taken action to ensure the availability of food parcels to the people in the city during lockdown. With this, the authority has directed six hotels in the city to be operational from 8 am to 8 pm.
The decision was taken in a meeting of Hotels and Restaurants Association summoned by mayor Thottathil Raveendran.
People will be allowed to purchase food parcels from these six hotels. No one should be allowed to dine at any hotels. Special permission was granted to the six hotels to provide service till 8 pm.
People can order their food via phone or using the service of private agencies. The hotels and restaurants association has reached an agreement with Potafo online food delivery service to supply food parcels.
The food delivery agency will charge Rs 20 for delivering food at any parts of the city including Elathoor, Beypore and Medical college areas. Food will be delivered within 20 to 40 minutes.
The authority has taken the action after observing that people from distant places staying in hostels and lodges are having trouble to get food following the lockdown.
