Kozhikode: Doctors at the Government Medical College, Kozhikode, successfully removed a 23-kilogram ovarian tumour from a 25-year-old woman, health officials confirmed on Monday.
The patient had approached the hospital’s Mother and Child Care Centre after noticing an unusual but painless swelling in her abdomen. Subsequent medical tests revealed an exceptionally large ovarian growth measuring around 45 centimetres in both length and width.

A multidisciplinary team of specialists carried out the two-hour operation under senior supervision. Despite the complexity posed by the tumour’s size and weight, the procedure was completed without complications.
Officials said the woman is stable and recovering well. Kerala Health Minister Veena George commended the medical team for their expertise and dedication in performing the challenging surgery.
